The International Business Center (IBC) was launched in Russia and CIS in 1994 and was originally called the American Business Center (ABC), a project of the US Department of Commerce. The idea behind it was to provide overall support to the US businessmen who wanted to explore business opportunities in Russia.
In the middle of 90s the IBC played active role in finding and training first Russian personnel for newly launched Pepsi-Cola plant in the Urals, and for representative offices of AT&T, Xerox and other multinational companies entering the Russian market.
Apart form recruitment the IBC worked as a Destination Management Company in the Urals Region of Russia booking hotels, transfers and interpreting services for incoming businessmen and official delegations, and organising conferences, trade shows and events. Most prominent being: visit of the New York Citibank delegation, Trade Show «United Tastes of America», the 5th International UNESCO Congress, International Conference on Nuclear Power, «Philips Incredible Festival» Road Show.
The valuable project experience determined the further activities of the IBC – corporate travel and human resources consultancy. The early opportunity to gain international experience and business practices in travel and recruitment services allowed the IBC to build-up a western type company that renders services in accordance with worldwide high performance standards. The IBC staff took part in good number of training programmes in the USA, Netherlands, Germany, and France.
At present the IBC is the team of over 100 highly qualified multilanguage specilists with offices in Ekaterinburg (the Urals), Novosibirsk (Siberia), Perm (Volga region) and Vladivostok (Russian Far East). The IBC Service Network group holds in three companies:
